A Trip Through Taxi From Ljubljana: Your Starting Point

We start in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It is famous for its architecture, culture, and dragon bridges. Ljubljana is like a hidden gem in the center of Europe.

Before you get in the taxi, take a minute to enjoy the city. You can grab a quick coffee at the busy Central Market or take a last walk along the Ljubljanica River.

First Stop: Villach

As your taxi leaves Ljubljana, you’ll head northwest to Villach, your first Austrian stop. The journey takes about 2 hours and is 111km. During this time, you’ll see the landscape change from green in Slovenia to alpine in Austria. Villach is an attractive city in the southern Austrian state of Carinthia. Here, you will find three types of culture: Slavic, Roman, and German. Once you arrive, you can explore the old town or take a dip in the thermal springs at Kärnten Therme.

Onward to Klagenfurt

From Villach, your taxi will continue northeast to Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia. This town is a short drive that takes about 45 minutes and covers 40 kilometers.

The city of Klagenfurt lies at Lake Wörthersee’s eastern shore, and it has many Renaissance-style buildings and a Mediterranean climate.

You should also catch the sight of Lindwurm, a statue of a winged dragon that is the symbol of this town.

If you have time, you can have a walk around the Lake or visit Minimundus built with miniature models representing famous buildings from different parts of the world.

The Road to Graz

Moving from Klagenfurt to Graz, you will cover a distance of about 140 kilometers in approximately one and a half hours.

Graz is Austria’s second biggest urban center after Vienna and it has UNESCO World Heritage status due to its well-maintained old town as well as contemporary architectural wonders.

The Schlossberg, which is covered with trees at its summit and has an observation clock tower, provides panoramic views that are exceptional for visitors. For modern art enthusiasts, Kunsthaus Graz also referred to as ‘Friendly Alien’ by locals is worth visiting.

A Detour to Vienna

The Taxi will move from Graz in the northeast direction to Vienna, covering  197.5 km within approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. This route will show you the wonderful Austrian countryside, and finally, you’ll be in the middle of the country.

Vienna, which is the capital of Austria, is a city full of history and culture. It is renowned for its imperial palaces, among them Schönbrunn, the summer residence of the Habsburgs. The city center is a treasure trove of architectural wonders, from the Gothic St. Stephen’s Cathedral to the Baroque Karlskirche. People who adore art will be delighted by the MuseumsQuartier, which is the house of different museums that display pieces by Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, and other artists.

Final destination: Innsbruck

The final part of this wonderful journey will be from Vienna to Innsbruck. It is about 479.4 kilometers away, and it takes about 4 hours and 49 minutes to get there. This part of the trip allows you to see Austria’s many faces, from the Danube valley to the ice-capped Alpine mountains of Tyrol.

Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, is a city preferably among Alpine enthusiasts due to its unparalleled surroundings. Modern Bergisel Ski Jump by Zaha Hadid makes a striking difference with the medieval old town and its Golden Roof. If you want to reach the top, take Nordkettenbahnen, a funicular railway that provides majestic views of the city and its mountainous surroundings.
